The World LP Gas Association (WLPGA) is the authoritative
voice of the global LP Gas industry representing all sectors
of the industry. WLPGA’s primary aim is to add value to the
sector through driving premium demand for LP Gas, while
promoting compliance to good business and safety
practices. It brings together private and public companies involved in one, several or all activities
of the industry, develops partnerships with international organisations and implements projects
on local and global scales. WLPGA was established in 1987 and granted Special Consultative
Status with the United Nations Economic and Social Council in 1989
As the authoritative, global voice for LP Gas, the WLPGA promotes the use of LP Gas globally to foster a cleaner, healthier and more prosperous world.

Large member companies initiated the creation of an Industry Council and inaugurated it into the framework of the WLPGA in 1996. This Council provides a platform for international LP Gas organisations to identify and address issues pertinent to the industry on a global scale. It is also the arena for the development of strategies and to devise and develop global industry projects. Industry Council members’ decisions and actions are the catalyst to increase the worldwide recognition and use of LP Gas. They also make recommendations to the WLPGA Board of Directors.
Key LP Gas industry networks have also been created by the Industry Council and the Board of Directors to focus on important LP Gas segments. One of these networks is the Global Autogas Industry Network (GAIN) that promotes the use of Autogas worldwide.
The second network is the Global Technology Network (GLOTEC) that encourages the exchange of WLPGA members on technology related to LP Gas. These networks are also dedicated to expanding the market, increasing the awareness of LP Gas and promoting use of it. GAIN and GLOTEC networks forge and co-ordinate relationships with all industry stakeholders.
One of the most important challenges today for the international community is the threat of climate change and how the world’s citizens and industries can help to mitigate its effects. LP Gas has an important role to play in meeting the world’s energy needs; it can also be a part of the solution to this global challenge. The World LP Gas Association demonstrates the benefits of this clean and modern energy through its activities and interaction with its stakeholders.
LP Gas produces lower GHG emissions compared to conventional energy supplies in virtually every application it is used, from stationary applications such as water heating, domestic heating, cooking and industrial boilers to transportation applications. While LP Gas is not a zero Greenhouse Gas (GHG) fuel, it can in most cases make large and immediate contributions to delivering real GHG emissions reductions. There are clear opportunities to switch to clean-burning LP Gas for a large number of industries as a means to meet GHG-reduction targets. The WLPGA is conducting a major study that will demonstrate the benefits of LP Gas compared to other fuels in different applications around the world. WLPGA will unveil the results of this study at the 21st World LP Gas Forum in Seoul.
WLPGA implements a variety of projects designed to educate, inform and influence various stakeholders in the global LP Gas business. Projects and services range from developing publications, coordinating economic and policy studies, publishing detailed statistics and
newsletters, supporting research & development and participation in international conferences including outreach to other LP Gas Associations.
The WLPGA internet site provides a valuable service to members – containing the latest information and news on LP Gas and the WLPGA as well as specific member services in the members-only section. Multi-client studies for members can be administered by the WLPGA to support small groups of members on specific subjects.
