TRAVEL TIPS

AIRPORT

Seoul has two international airports; Gimbo International Airport (GMP) and the newer, larger Incheon International Airport (ICN).

The Korea City Air Terminal (KCAT) is next to the Korea World Trade Center in the COEX area. It provides check-in service and passport clearance. Nonstop limousine buses make the roughly 60-minute commute between Incheon International Airport and KCAT every 10 to 20 minutes. Another KCAT opened recently at Gimpo International Airport.

Special airport buses and city buses leave from various points in Seoul every 15 minutes from 5:00 am to 10:30 pm, and are less expensive alternatives to the KAL Limousine Bus line which connects Incheon International Airport with 19 major hotels in Seoul.

FOOD AND DRINKS

Authentically, Korean food is not served in courses, but it is all placed on the table at the same time. Most of the dishes accompany the staple diet rice, which is known as “bap” in Korean. A specialty of South Korean Cuisine is that instead of cooking the vegetables, they pickle them. This unique method of fermentation and preserving of the vegetables is called “Kimchi”. South Korean Food is also known for being spicy which is usually made by the use of chili peppers. Other well liked dishes of the country are fishes, either grilled or stewed and roasted marinated beef, chicken, or pork which is known as “Bulgogi” in Korean. A Korean meal also remains unfinished without a soup or stew which is sometimes made of bean paste.
Don’t forget to accompany your meal with rice wine!
